Aims of department :

1. Strengthening Students’ English Foundation
   • To strengthen the English foundation of S1 students, we will implement several initiatives, including bridging programs, phonics classes, and community-based projects. Students from S1 to S3 will be grouped according to their English proficiency, which aims to enhance their motivation to learn.
   • Additionally, the English Ambassador Scheme is designed to promote and facilitate various English activities, complemented by an English Awarding Scheme to recognize student achievements. Additionally, "English Fridays" will encourage junior form students to read aloud target vocabulary and short passages with the support of assigned teachers.
   • To further enhance reading skills, we will promote e-reading as a means to boost students’ English literacy.
2. Promoting Cross-Curricular Language Learning
   • Cross-curricular language learning activities will provide junior students with opportunities to expand their English vocabulary across various subjects.
   • By collaborating on cross-curricular reading initiatives, we aim to expose students to a diverse range of vocabulary and reading materials.
3. Catering to Individual Differences
   • To accommodate individual learning needs, we will offer enhancement and remedial classes that cater to varying levels of English ability.
   • An annual English Camp will be organized to help the new S1 students use English in their everyday lives. Furthermore, systematic assessments will be implemented to monitor and enhance learning outcomes.

Support Features for Primary Six Students/Parents in Hong Kong:

• Understanding the needs of new immigrant students regarding their foundational knowledge of English, our school organizes different extracurricular programs, including English adaptation classes, phonics classes, and advanced English classes. These programs are designed to cater to students' varying needs in vocabulary basics, speaking skills, and advanced grammar.
• Every year, our school holds a summer bridging program for new first-year students to help parents and students understand the new curriculum and adapt to the secondary school learning model.
